Black Light Theatre in Prague: Which Show Is Worth Your Evening?

Updated October 13, 2026 · 5 min read

Performers in glowing striped and patterned costumes around a large wire head frame on a dark stage

If you want one black light show and have no strong preference, the WOW Show Black Light Theater has the most reviews and the shortest running time. It costs €27, lasts 65 minutes without an interval and has 4.0 stars from 4,323 reviews. The audience takes part, so it suits groups and families more than someone who wants to watch quietly.

Expect middling scores: none of the four shows below is rated above 4.3, and the two most reviewed are at 4.0.

The shows

WOW Show is at Theatre Broadway, in the passage that connects Na Příkopě 31 and Celetná 38. The page describes a “4D” show with UV effects, glowing puppets and acrobatics, and live performers who move through the audience. The theatre opens 30 minutes before the start, seats are not numbered, and the page lists the venue as wheelchair accessible. Cameras, smoking, alcohol and drugs are not permitted.

Srnec is performed at the Black Theatre of Jiří Srnec, which the page calls the first theatre of its kind in the world. It is a mime-based, entirely non-verbal show with music throughout and a longer running time, 1.5 hours. The page lists no wheelchair information and no seating details, so ask before you book if that matters.

Image is the most conventional: a modern, air-conditioned theatre in the centre with numbered seats, a café and a wheelchair-accessible hall. Its booking page calls the show suitable for all ages, but lists children under 2, babies under 1 year and people with epilepsy as not suitable. The listing says Image Theatre has been performing for over 30 years. It has only 85 reviews, so the 4.3 is a thin score.

HILT is the odd one: a 15th-century underground room with only 50 seats, a short film about black light theatre before the show, and an interactive format. Its booking page is blunt about who it is not for. Children under 6, people with claustrophobia and people with epilepsy are listed as not suitable; entry after the start is not possible and not refundable; the page calls it “absolutely not suitable for deep classic theatre lovers”. Minibar drinks are paid in cash only.

Which show for whom

  • Children. According to their booking pages, Image and WOW both describe the show as suitable for all ages, with Image excluding children under 2. HILT excludes children under 6. People with epilepsy are listed as not suitable for Image and HILT; the other two pages do not mention it, so ask.
  • Adults without children. HILT, if you like small rooms, or Srnec for something more traditional.
  • A wheelchair. Image and WOW both say they are wheelchair accessible; confirm that with the theatre before booking.

Before you go

WOW and HILT open their doors 30 minutes before the start, and HILT does not let you in once the show has begun. Seats at WOW are not numbered, so arrive when the doors open if you care where you sit.

If you want a quieter evening, the Klementinum concerts are an hour each, and the concerts and shows page lists the rest. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before applies to all four shows.
