Kutná Hora Day Trip from Prague: Bone Church and St. Barbara's, Which Tour?
Updated October 13, 2026 · 6 min read
If you want the Bone Church done properly and are happy with English, the Kutná Hora UNESCO Site Tour with Bone Chapel is the strongest choice. It costs €69 for about 6 hours, has 4.6 stars from 2,553 reviews, and goes by train and local bus instead of coach. The price includes the guide, the entrance tickets to St. Barbara’s Church and the Sedlec Ossuary, the return train tickets with seat reservations and the bus between the two sites.
If you want a hotel pickup, the St. Barbara’s Church and Sedlec Ossuary tour is €77, lists six guide languages, and has 4.2 stars from 993 reviews.

What actually differs
The Bone Church is the reason, and it is timed. The operator of the €69 tour says the Sedlec Ossuary runs on strict 30-minute timed-entry slots and that walk-up visitors are regularly turned away once a day’s slots sell out; its guide books the group’s entry days ahead. The listings give the number of people whose bones decorate it as 40,000 or more, and one says 40,000 to 70,000.
Photography. Four of the five pages say photography or video is not allowed inside the Sedlec Ossuary. If a photo of the interior is the point of your trip, this is not the place.
Entry tickets are not always in the price. The €58.50 coach trip lists the ossuary, St. Barbara’s Church and the Italian Court. The €77 tour lists entry to St. Barbara’s Church and the Cathedral of the Assumption. The €50 excursion is an option menu: live guide or audio guide, with or without entry tickets, so the cheapest version is the audio guide without tickets.
The route. The €69 tour takes the train from the main station and meets at the České dráhy main ticket office; its page says to look for Burger King and head downhill. The €58.50 coach trip meets at bus stop A at the yellow kiosk at Pařížská 1, at the corner of the Old Town Square, and asks for ID. The €50 excursion starts at Na Příkopě 23 and has 80 minutes each way on the road.
Lunch. On the €69 tour lunch is at your own expense, at Restaurace Dačický, where the operator gives a meal and beer or wine as €15 to €20. The page also warns that the lunch break is short when the train is late and suggests a snack from the station.
The longer small-group day. The €139 tour is a different thing: it starts with a folk-village museum in Přerov nad Labem, stops for lunch, then goes to St. Barbara’s, the town and the Cathedral of the Assumption, and leaves the Ossuary until late afternoon, when most tours have gone. It lists a light snack and bottled water, and it is limited to 7 people. The folk museum is closed on Mondays and in winter (November, and 31 December to 15 March); on those days the tour visits an alternative such as Český Šternberk Castle. It has only 17 reviews.
Who should skip it
Wheelchair users are listed as not suitable on the €58.50 and €50 trips, and the €69 operator says its tour is not suitable for people with mobility impairments and involves uneven, cobbled and sloped ground.
The €139 small-group tour lists children under 6 as not suitable, along with wheelchair users and people with mobility impairments; the other operators do not state a minimum age on the pages I read. An ossuary of stacked skulls will not suit every child, and a six-hour day with a train or coach is long for the youngest. Ask before you pay.
If you can spare a longer day, the Český Krumlov trip takes 9 to 11 hours; this one is the shorter option.
Which one
The €69 train tour for the Ossuary with timed entry sorted for you. The €58.50 coach trip for the lowest fixed price with entry included. The €77 small group if you want pickup or a guide in German, Italian, French or Spanish. All have free cancellation up to 24 hours before.
