Český Krumlov Day Trip from Prague: Which Tour, and Is the Long Day Worth It?
Updated October 13, 2026 · 6 min read
For most people the best fit is the small-group Český Krumlov Full-Day Tour with Pickup. It costs €101.13 for 9 hours, collects you at your accommodation, is limited to 15 people and has 4.7 stars from 644 reviews. If you would rather spend less and do not mind a longer day, the Full-Day Trip to Český Krumlov is €85 for 11 hours, with 4.6 stars from 1,383 reviews.
Whichever you pick, this is a day spent mostly in a vehicle. The tours that list driving times put them at around 2 to 3 hours each way.

What actually differs
Pickup or meeting point. The €101.13 tour collects you at your accommodation. The €85 coach trip meets at Na Příkopě 23 in the centre, although its page also lists hotel pickup, so ask which applies to your booking. The small-group Traviatour meets at the Powder Tower, and the Hluboká combination at Na Florenci 23, where the guide waits with a sign and asks you to arrive 15 minutes early.
The language. The €85 coach trip lists live guides in Italian, German, Spanish and English; the Gray Line trip in English, French, German, Spanish and Italian. The small-group trip and the Hluboká combination list English and Spanish.
How long you really have in the town. The 11-hour trip gives about five hours there: a 2-hour guided walk and 3 hours free. The €101.13 tour has a 2-hour guided walk and an optional 2 hours of self-guided time, with about 2 hours of driving each way, which makes it the shortest day of the five at 9 hours. The Gray Line trip splits its time between two towns, and its České Budějovice stop is listed at 10 minutes of guiding and 20 of free time, which is a photo stop rather than a visit.
The castle. Read this line twice if you travel between November and March. The operator of the €85 coach trip notes that from 1 November to 22 December and from 2 January to 31 March only the museum and the castle tower are open, Tuesday to Sunday, and the castle interiors are closed. The Gray Line page says its castle visit runs April to October. The €101.13 tour describes a guided walk around the courtyards, not a tour of the rooms, so check whether an interior ticket matters to you before booking. The castle is described as the second largest in the Czech Republic.
Lunch. On the €101.13 tour lunch is at your own expense, at a medieval restaurant by the river or in the Old Town. The Gray Line page lists a lunch (glass of water, main course and dessert) only if that option is selected.
Who should skip it
The tours that list it say wheelchair users are not suitable, and the Hluboká combination also excludes people with mobility impairments. The small-group Traviatour says some parts are not accessible to people with reduced mobility or children in strollers.
Small children and a coach seat for four to six hours is a hard day. The operators do not state a minimum age on the pages I read, so if a child is travelling, ask the operator before paying.
If you only have a few days in Prague, a shorter trip is the better trade. Kutná Hora is a day trip of about six hours.
Doing it without a tour
Independent travellers can take a scheduled bus or train, or drive. I have not checked timetables or fares here, so look at the carriers directly. If you want to compare rental cars for Prague, read the excess, deposit and fuel policy before you pay; they vary between offers and I have not listed any.
Which one
The €101.13 small-group tour if you want a comfortable day and pickup. The €85 coach trip for the most reviews and a lower price than the pickup tour, accepting 11 hours. The Hluboká combination if you want a second castle and a low starting price. All of them have free cancellation up to 24 hours before.
You will find more options on the day trips from Prague page.
